Bank 1 Exhaust Camshaft Sensor
Bank 1 Exhaust Camshaft Sensor. Remove the engine mount strut and bracket. Sensor b indicates that the malfunction is occurring with the camshaft position sensor circuit that pertains to the exhaust camshaft.

V6 and v8 engines are equipped with two engine banks and two catalytic converters, with one converter for each bank. Camshaft sensor, exhaust bank 1. If you look at my attachment, i believe it's the one labeled #3.
Wiring Diagram Courtesy Of Alldata Current Phaser Description:
Why does a v8 engine have 4 camshaft sensors? Bank 1 is the side of your engine that has the cylinder 1, while sensor b refers to the exhaust camshaft side. The ckp and cmp sensors work together to keep the pcm informed about engine timing.
Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit (Bank 1).
Sensor b indicates that the malfunction is occurring with the camshaft position sensor circuit that pertains to the exhaust camshaft. Remove the engine mount strut and bracket. V6 and v8 engines are equipped with two engine banks and two catalytic converters, with one converter for each bank.
Bank 1 Sensor 2 Is The Second Sensor On The Engine’s Exhaust Pipe, Usually Behind The Catalytic Converter.
Bank 2 sensor 1 is the first sensor closest to the engine. So for this engine, bank 1 is exhaust side, bank 2 is intake side. Hope this works as i did a screen shot of where i think it's at.
On Bank 2 Means It Is At The Engine Side With Cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8, Etc.
This code gets confusing listing the sensor as sensor a, this vehicle has 4 variable camshaft timing solenoids , on bank 1 there are 2 variable valve timing one for the intake and one for the exhaust. Got the dreaded engine light with p0015 exhaust camshaft position bank 1. Bank 2 is on the right.

Gl450 x164 bank 1 exhaust camshaft magnetic sensor p0015mercedes part number: Likewise, a dual overhead cam, v8 engine will require four camshaft sensors because there are two engine banks with two camshafts in each bank. So if i'm correct its the exhaust camshaft position sensor near the firewall somewhere out of the 4 total sensors.
